I am running IE 10 in Win8. When I use the mailto: link it opens up the Windows 8 Mail App. I want it to use Outlook. Same thing when I use SharePoint to email a link, it opens up the Windows 8 Mail App. I want it to send the link to Outlook. How do I change this?

In previous versions I would use the Programs tab under Internet Option under the Tools menu.

Thanks!

Hi Alexis,
From your issue description I understand that you need to change the default mail client for Internet Explorer 10. Do not worry; I am here to help you.

I would suggest you to perform the following methods and check if it helps.

a) Press Windows Key + R

b) Type Control Panel in the Search box in Charms bar.

c) Select to view the Control Panel in the Category, Large icons, or Small icons view.

d) Click\tap on the Internet Options icon.

e) In Internet Options, click on the Programs tab.

f) Click Set programs.

g) Select Set your default program

h) Click the e‑mail program you would like to use, and then click Set this program as default.

i) Click OK.

Hope it helps.
